A Hint for Using a Smaller Button for "The Republic"

It has come to my attention that some may have trouble finding 2" buttons for their "Republics". I've received multiple e-mails about it and thought that I'd give you hints about how to deal with it here.

I found my 2" button at Hancock Fabrics. I've also seen some at JoAnn Fabrics.

You can also alter the width of the garter stitch band.

To accommodate a smaller button, you can knit less rows for the garter stitch band, depending on your button size. After the joining step for knitting in the round, continue to knit each round until you get 5 inches from the cast on edge. Continue with the decreasing instructions.
